Last week we came out playing determined disciplined competitive football, got our hands on the ball, won the contested ball and won two games in a row for the first time in 5 years – yeh!  Can we do it again this week against St Kilda? Tough competition for spots sees only one change this week but it’s an exciting one with the debut of Christian Petracca.

Come along and join the NSW Demons at the Cammy to watch the game on the big screen.
Melbourne V St Kilda on the Big Screen on Saturday 30 April at 1.45 pm at the Camelia Grove Hotel.

This week

An exciting game tonight when we play Richmond at the MCG in front of a big crowd! How will we go? Will we come out playing the determined disciplined competitive football that we’ve seen in the last two weeks? Will we stick to the game plan under the pressure of a big crowd and high expectations? Will we bring the pressure and intensity to the contested ball – and maintain the “see ball, get ball” style of football? Will we see the Watts Hogan partnership continue to flourish?

Here’s what three NSW Demons are looking forward to:
‘Our midfield beating theirs in contested ball and a little more magic from Garlett (and what a nice selection worry….Garlett or Petracca!)’ Rod

‘5 years. That’s how long it’s been since we won two games in a row. It’s time to break that cycle. Win the contested ball, compete like DEMONS and put more hoodoos to rest in a big game on a big occasion that we want to make a marquee match.’ Andrew

‘If we can execute our Game Plan we’ll win. The key to that will be getting our hands on the ball first by being more competitive at the contests. They have a more experienced list with more runs on the board we have a better Game Plan.’ Steve

So much to watch so come along and join the NSW Demons at the Cammy to watch the game on the big screen at 7.10 pm this evening. The bistro will be open until 8 pm so enjoy dinner and a drink and sit back and cheer on the Dees.

Last week – Match Report from Jacqui in Coffs Harbour

It’s a Grand Old Flag – It’s a Magpie Flogging Flag – It’s the Emblem for me and for you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
“WE BEAT COLLINGWOOD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!’

This is such an auspicious occasion – we didn’t just flop over the line – we flogged them!! It was a very classy win, with many players contributing and kicking goals. Who kicked our goals – just about bloody everyone – fantastic!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Seeing the Shinboners on top of the ladder at the end of this round also makes sense of last week – we came so close.
Lovely to see young Jayden Hunt literally jumping out of his sweater to play – mum must have been down on the sidelines with the needle and thread to stitch that lucky little guernsey together for him so he could stay on the paddock.
Lots of celebration and many renditions of “It’s a Grand Old Flag….., etc” (where’s that bloody bugle when you need it?)

Go the Dees!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Women’s footy and Daisy Pearce

I’m sure you know about the great work the footy club has been doing with women’s football and here’s an excellent article about Daisy Pearce by Caroline Wilson.
“Melbourne’s love affair with the women’s game began some years ago and that club will surely become a foundation club — with Pearce as captain………. The Demons’ love affair with Pearce was cemented when she delivered, with less than an hour’s notice, her memorable acceptance speech at last year’s best and fairest dinner.” Read more

Melbourne v North Melbourne match report

Well so far my Season 2016 predictions are going so well – but i won’t give up on improvement – and still have them stuck to the fridge!

We had a bit more of a crack last week against the Shin-Boners.  Shame about the seven-goal head start they got, but I was much cheered by Gawny’s comments – that he was being beaten by Todd Goldstein, so he talked to his mates – asked for their help and lifted to a different level. Great to see the big guy kick two goals.  Seems like the leadership gig is having a positive impact.

I thought Jack Viney was just relentless, Hogan was up and cheerful and accurate, BV was sensational and pretty magic to see Dunny kick a goal. Dean Kent was fast and pin point accurate and it was great to see Billy Stretch put that pretty little head over the ball.

We were out-muscled by the Roos but not out-played. We did not drop our heads – not for a second.   This is the New Dees on the paddock.  Am liking it. … and now Pies for dessert!!.

This week I am watching the Dees on the big screen at the Moonee Tavern in Coffs Harbour – anyone want to join me??  It is dyed in the wool NRL territory, but the publican kindly puts the Dees on for me every weekend.

The Moonee Tavern has a website with directions etc (just google it) and anyone who supports the Dees is welcome to watch with me.  It is run by lots of lovely Irish folk who kindly put the footy on week in week out – despite the NRL folk grumbling about it!

Go the Dees!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
