Watch Melbourne play twice today live on 7Mate.

August 2015
First the AFL Women’s Exhibition game v Footscray at 12.35 pm then the Dees play Bulldogs live on 7Mate.

Join the NSW Demons to watch the herstoric first live broadcast of the AFL Women’s Exhibition match between Melbourne and Footscray starting at 12.35 pm today.

Melbourne is looking to maintain its undefeated record in the women’s matches to date, with its eight-point win against the Western Bulldogs earlier this year the closest clash yet.  Melbourne’s players include Daisy Pearce (Captain), Melissa Hickey, Kara Donnellan, Chelsea Randall, Kirby Bentley and Tayla Harris.  The team is coached by Michelle Cowan.

In another highlight Eleni Glouftsis, Libby Toovey and Annie Mirabile will be the three field umpires for today’s game.

How good is it to be part of a club that stands for women in footy!

After the Women’s game settle back to watch the Dees play the Bulldogs at 3.20pm.

Max Gawn – Rising Star!

Max Gawn – Rising Star!

Nominated by Merlin and Sugar – No. 1 Pet Supporters – Northern NSW Feline Division MFC
June 2015
Give a ruckman a break (or at least a longer Guernsey)We think ruckmen get a rough deal in the AFL – how does nobody notice them when they are Gi-normous like Maxy, Crayon and Russian.  Rarely does a Brownlow Vote makes it over the 2.05 metre mark – let alone a Bluey or a Rising Star.
Our Gawny has battled manfully – through thick and thin and busted knees and jumpers that are frankly way too short for him.
How’s a fella supposed to play his best footy with his tummy showing?
It is possible that Gawny has grown a little in the last 12 months or so – so can you please put some hungry boards on that guernsey for him?
Meantime, as our special award and recognition for service above and beyond the length of his sweater, we have decided to give him his very own Rising Star nomination.
Hope you find space in the trophy cabinet for this one.

Cheers
Jacqui, Merlin and Sugar

Welcome back Dees to Friday night footy

In a game we have every chance of winning it’s great to see the Dees playing Friday night footy.  Melbourne last played a Friday night game in 2012!  No doubt there will be a big crowd at the ‘G’ to watch Melbourne take on Richmond. And no doubt the Cammy will busy as well tonight.

I like the decision to bring in Viv Michie to the team to add depth to the midfield for tonight’s game.  The Dees surely need greater numbers rotating through the midfield. In our past three games the opposition has rotated up to 14 players through their midfield.

What to look out for this week: Jesse and Jeff kicking goals and Angus playing a full game.

The team this week:
B: Colin Garland, Lynden Dunn, Neville Jetta
HB: Jeremy Howe, Tom McDonald, Christian Salem
C: Daniel Cross, Nathan Jones, Heritier Lumumba
HF: Ben Newton, Jesse Hogan, Jeff Garlett
F: Dean Kent, Chris Dawes, Jack Watts
FOLL: Mark Jamar, Dom Tyson, Bernie Vince
I/C: Angus Brayshaw, Jay Kennedy-Harris, Viv Michie, Aaron vandenBerg
EMG: Jimmy Toumpas, Cameron Pedersen, Jack Grimes
